Good despite terrible sound
The Doobie Brothers started with "Jesus Is Just Alright", an excellent choice that set the tone for the night. It was a great job by the band, getting better as the night went on. The sound, however, left much to be desired. The whole mix sounded like a high-mid ball of distortion being pushed through 2 8-inch speakers - one left, one right. Whoever was running the sound needs to consider a career change immediately. It was a complete disaster, as if an amateur with no knowledge of the equipment was in charge. At one point, the sax and pedal steel were doubling each other, creating what I imagine was a cool sound. Unfortunately, thanks to the incompetent sound man, it was all lost on the audience. Fire that guy! The frustration of the band was evident at times due to the lack of audience reaction. It's likely that the audience couldn't understand half of what was being said, sung, or played. Despite these setbacks, J. Cole triumphed, and the audience ultimately had a good time.
